It might be a moot point anyway. J found out that his company is switching insurance providers. We've been very lucky with insurance coverage thus far. We had a crap time with drugs in the beginning, but things have gotten much better with the new clinic. If it weren't for insurance coverage, we would not be able to try to have a child - no way we could afford it. My husband works for an MA based company, so we really lucked out. I know this, and I'm not posting this to rub it in. We have no idea what the new plan will cover or what their "rules" are for coverage. I managed to find their infertility bulletin online and I THINK we'll be okay, but I really have no idea. I would really rather not try to cram in our last cycle before the end of the year. We won't even know what our coverage will look like until the middle of November. I REALLY wanted to make this last fresh cycle the best it could be. Try not to be as relaxed as I can, not be traveling to my mom's, not be hosting my in-laws... all of these things do not mix with the holidays! I wanted a little break!
My clinic says that 90% of the time they have no problems with out upcoming insurance company, but that they are sometimes denied for surprising reasons. We're leaning towards sticking with our original plan and if we do a final fresh cycle, we'll hope for the best or take out a loan. I don't know. I'm tired of being stressed ALL THE TIME. Anyone out there with BCBS of MA have any tips to share?
In an attempt to relax, I'm going to post photos from our trip to the mountains. I forgot to post them earlier!

Oh dear... dealing with insurance blows, lucky MA resident or no.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm jealous of these photos of.. what's that word... NATURE. wonder if I spelled that right.
Oh my goodness....What a breathtaking array of beauty!!! Love those pictures and I bet the trip was just as nice. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the insurance dilemma. Like Stupid Stork said, it blows dealing with them.
Happy ICLW!

Beautiful photos. I'm so sorry you have to do the blood drawl again. uff.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I am so sorry for the added stress of the additional blood draws and insurance question marks! I hope that you are able to get everything straightened out and start your IVF in no time!!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I wish my insurance would cover IVF, I'm kind of glad we don't have those hoops to jump through.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!
Good luck with the insurance woes. I second what Daryl said - we are totally OOP so as much as it sucks to pay the big bill - on.a.credit.card - at least i'm like "here's my Visa. shut up and move on to putting me in stirrups." it sounds like it will work out somehow for you guys though $-wise.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics! thanks for posting :)
Love the photos, looks like a very relaxing place to be at.
ReplyDeleteInsurance is all good and well when it's straightforward. Hope it turns out to be okay for you in the end. Not the stress you need on top of everything else. But the mix up at your clinic! that would make me tick even more I think. How frustrating.
Oh that SUCKS! You absolutely shouldn't have to pay again for a lab mistake -- I know when the lab screwed up our STD panels (ran the wrong tests), we didn't have to pay to re-do them.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the insurance thing -- I don't live in MA, but I have BCBS, for what it's worth, and it is slightly better than what I had before: they cover office visits and part of the medication, but no procedures. (Because IVF is icky, I guess?) We are still waiting to see what the final tally out of pocket is on our cycle but I suspect it will end up being about $10k (all borrowed). Our clinic made us prepay in full as though insurance would cover nothing, so we are hoping that we will get a little back when we leave the clinic in a couple of weeks. But that may be moot for you, as I think what is covered probably varies by state.
So sorry to hear about that b/s. Essssh. Crappy. Crappy. Crappy. Sending many vibes that all is well with the insurance switch and I love those photos!
ReplyDeleteOh I really hope everything works out with your new insurance! If they're switching to another MA-based insurance co, then you should be fine. Those pictures are beautiful, btw!
ReplyDeleteSorry I don't have any input on the insurance question. Wow, I love the picture you took. What a beautiful place to be!
ReplyDeleteInsurance just gives me headaches. Hopefully you'll still have good coverage.
ReplyDeletewe had BCBS MA and it covered unlimited lifetime IVF. Unfortunately my DH changed jobs (maybe to avoid me going through any more IVF) and now we have $10k per year coverage instead. Not sure if everyone gets that deal but it was awesome (and 6 months too late since we paid out of pocked 6 months earlier).
ReplyDeleteSorry about your crappy day and having to deal with insurance unkowns. I'm lucky enough to work for a company based out of CT and as of today have 2 IVFs covered (if I can just get to them). But my employer is changing carriers at the end of the year and I, too, am nervous to see what that means. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are gorgeous!! I'm sorry for the lab mistake and your insurance stress :( I hope it all gets sorted quickly and easily!
ReplyDeleteReplying on my own comment to let you know I nominated you for a Liebster Award! Details are on my blog :)
Deletehi from ICLW! Absolutely GORGEOUS pictures!! I hope the insurance snafus get sorted very quickly!
ReplyDeletei love the pics - so beautiful! Hang in there - I can only imagine how frustrating a lab mistake like that must be!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think insurance is more of a pain than anything else. Sure it saves us a buck or 2, but in the end my out of pocket is nearly what I would have paid at my clinic had I chosen to pay out of pocket....crazy!!! And we used to have super awesome coverage, but the company pulled back their coverage for some reason and we are now super limited...My poor husband didn't read the changes and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how they cut the coverage....I hope above hopes things work in your favor!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love those pictures...OH how I wish I had some place so scenic to take such gorgeous photos....Your work is beautiful, but Mother Nature sure did help you out!
Your photos are so lovely, especially those of the mist and fog... I don't know what to say about such a crappy situation but I wanted to send some hugs :)
